From Krakatau to Bali - summer 2016

Christopher Kay made participated on our by now classic Indonesian volcano photography tour at the end of July - early August 2016. His great video below gives a good impression of the variety of landscapes, volcanic activity as well as traditional culture one will discover during the 2 weeks From Krakatau to Bali volcano adventure!

Stromboli in eruption (Stromboli to Etna tour)

Sunset from Stromboli's Pizzo, Ginostra side - taken during our group tour from 14-22 May 2016. Strombolian eruptions from the NE craters, ash emission from the SW crater, and continuous spattering from the central vent. Bats flying in the sky, and flashes from boats in the sea.

Vanuatu volcano expedition - July 2014

One of the participants on our July 2014 photo expedition to Vanuatu, Martin Siering, made the following short video of his impressions of this tour: hiking through the tropical vegetation, camping, observing the lava lakes and strombolian eruptions during day and nighttime...

The 2-week tour "Volcanoes, adventure and culture" is organised and guided by German photographer and adventurer Ulla Lohmann.

Batu Tara expedition video - July 2015

Martin Siering also joined us on our July 2015 expedition to the uninhabited but very active volcano Batu Tara (Indonesia). From the 3 days and nights of camping on the pebble beach whilst watching the volcano he made the following short film! Among other things, the video presents striking images of strombolian eruptions emanating from the volcano during the day and the night, images of the Milky Way, a glimpse into everyday life at the base camp, and unique time-lapse footage of the Batu Tara volcano.

We have been organising this one week "Batu Tara Volcano Expedition once or twice per year since this impressive stratovolcano started his currently ongoing eruption in 2012.
